CPI offers clients a complete web design and development service based on the knowledge and expertise from our departmental team. The team aim to provide clients with effective web sites, which decrease production/implementation times, cost and increase efficiency of the information displayed within the site. CPI's own web site was developed completely in house via the department.
Web Design: the CPI approach
CPI's web development team ideally work to a set procedure to generate, implement, test and publish clients' sites. Initially a member of our team will be assigned to a project and become the lead and direct point of contact for that individual client. The project leader will meet and consult with a client to gage the industry and company background along with the functionality and interactivity the client requires from the site.
The team will then sketch a selection of designs based upon the information received and these will presented to the client over a second meeting with the project leader. After selecting any of the designs or parts of different designs to create a master design the team will then work on implementing this into an electronic form. If any of the designs aren't exactly what the client is looking for the team will generate a further selection of designs for the client to assess using the feedback given.
After the implementation of the site into an electronic form a URL will be generated under the CPI site's client test folder for viewing over the internet. The team will then allow for further feedback and accordingly modify the site if necessary, the team will then request the information with which to fill the pages. Some of this may have already been requested in order to ensure database information is requested and displayed correctly.
The information will then be implemented and at present the project leader will assist the client in choosing a hosting provider and will fully upload and ensure the site is working correctly before leaving it in the clients hands, although some sites may be subject to further or ongoing development or maintenance at the discretion of the individual client.
Service Range
The web development teams ideal procedure to create a site is stated above but other less intricate options are available, which can either slightly construe the ideal procedure or completely remove it, depending on the individual customers needs. Pre-formed web site will become available over the coming year for clients to login and administer themselves although these packages will of specific genre's rather than tailor made to a specific company or industry.
Standards
All web sites produced by the department will meet the World Wide Web Consortiums (W3C) set web standards for XHTML and CSS. These standards ensure that sites produced are viewed in the same way through differing web browsers which may display certain elements differently if outside the standards.
Each client will have the choice of displaying compliance images for both standards in either a beige colour as shown at the foot of each page of this site or in a light blue background colour.
Technologies
The web development team can provide web sites using the following technologies and scripting languages for a variety of designs; industries and audiences; HTML 4.0, XHTML, CSS, XML, Javascript, VB Script, DHTML, AJAX, SQL, ASP, ADO, PHP and ActionScript.
Web Hosting
At present the CPI web development team do not provide web hosting but are at present implementing severs to hold company sites and information to complete the whole web development and hosting package. Further updates regarding availability and pricing of hosting space will be added here as soon as the information become available.
